Julie A. Cupp, MD, is a breast surgical oncologist at Willis-Knighton Breast Health and Surgical Specialists in Shreveport. Her calling to women’s health makes her a great advocate for patients as she assists them throughout the treatment process. Dr. Cupp provides patient-centered care to help patients navigate the complexities of breast cancer, including the physical and psychosocial factors.
Her multidisciplinary team offers a range of services and treatments, ranging from genetic testing and counseling for women who have questions about their breast health, to breast diagnostics, to surgical treatment options for both benign and malignant breast diseases. Dr. Cupp provides needle core biopsies and breast ultrasounds. Surgical options include lumpectomy and skin- and nipple-sparing mastectomy. She collaborates with medical and radiation oncology to offer multidisciplinary care to fit patient needs. Dr. Cupp provides information and partners with patients as they make the best treatment decisions that align with their life goals.
A graduate of LSU Health Sciences Center-Shreveport School of Medicine, Dr. Cupp went on to complete an internship and a general surgery residency at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. She completed a research fellowship at the same location, studying breast disease and parathyroid disease. Dr. Cupp continued her training at University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center with a fellowship in breast surgical oncology. She is certified in general surgery by the American Board of General Surgery.
Dr. Cupp is a member of the American Society of Breast Surgery and the Louisiana Chapter of the American College of Surgeons.
In her spare time, she loves spending time with her husband and children, cooking, running and biking.
